Scrapbooking with flowers, ribbons and all things beautiful -- with BOYS!

If you're like me, a Mother to Boys and a little more then addicted to scrapbooking - the paper, ribbons, flowers, buttons, glitter, you might be wondering how to incorporate all those finds into the perfect layout! I'm here to help! At least, I'll try. I've been scrapbooking for about 8 years and have only recently decided I was done with holding back on all the beautiful embellishments and am going to start using them. Hope you enjoy my journey!

Bella Creations....such beautiful inspiration!

I've recently discovered a new blog - challenge site.  They have the most amazing prizes, delicious challenges and just so much going on there.  I'd love to keep it all to myself, but obviously it's so great you are bound to discover it...sooner or later, so I guess I am here to help you get there sooner!

'Tres Chic' Vintage Challenge for this month.

Here's a couple of challenges I participated in, just this month.  There is so much going on there and I love the idea of learning new techniques.  I have never done much with vintage, but I do just love it.  So, check out there samples and try it out!  You are bound to find something there.  And, did I mention the prizes?

This challenge was to use a 'vintage inspired print' and so what better photo than this one, circa 1913, of my Great Grandmother and her sister.  I just think it is so wonderful how these two sisters grew up and married brothers!  Yes, they married the Miller brothers, Ed and Henry.  Delia and Ed were married over 62 years, with 3 children, 13 grand children and 23 great grandchildren and I think I've lost count of the great great great grandchildren.  Pretty amazing story.

Bella Muse March Challenge

This challenge was to use the 'Bella Muse' print for inspiration.  Never having scrapped a 'print', this was a lot of fun.  I decided to do some extra work towards my Soul Restoration and designed this Truthteller card for myself.

So, what are you waiting for?  Go have some fun!

Webster's Pages - Inspire ME Banner of the Week!

I can't tell you how much it meant today to get news that my little digital layout was chosen as Banner of the Week!  I absolutely love everything Webster's and to be chosen to be a part of the blog, well, I was overwhelmed to tears.  What a tremendous day:)

My Happy Place....a layout for my sister

I created this layout for my sister, Monique.  I just love how safe and happy Wyatt looks here, in his Happy Place with Auntie.  Thought it was a very fitting layout to share on the 1st day of Spring!
These are some hand created roses, nestled in with a few Prima roses.

The paper is Webster's Pages, Sweet Seasons collection.  I also added a bit of bling and shine with some of the new Prima Marketing line.

Happy SPRING!!!!

My Lil Cuppy Cake....another Webster's Pages Challenge

Webster's Pages has just caught my eye this month!

Another wonderful challenge and the most beautiful lines!  They have some of the most beautiful new collections and of course, some great ones from this past season.  The collection I'm using here is Sweet Seasons, and what could be better to highlight My Lil Cuppy Cake Wyatt here.  I could just eat his sweet little cheeks!

Have you ever used gold leafing?  This is the first time I've tried it and I just LOVE how it came out!  I picked up this new little crafting tip over at Brave Girls Club, along with mod podge, paint and so much more.  Here's how I did it.  I used a fine tip paint brush, mod podge and the gold leafing.  I put a very thin line of mod podge, laid down the gold leafing and then brushed away the excess using another paint brush -- I use rough strokes to get rid of any extra.

Now my butterfly here is my favorite part of the page.  I took one of the Webster's sticker outlines, and laid it down on the paper here.  I cut out the butterfly and then took a small strip of paper.
I wound the paper tight around my paintbrush so that it would hold its shape.  This paper was perfect because it made an amazing spring like coil.  I adhered the strip to the butterfly and voila - it's floating above the flowers on my page.  You'll see I also added some gold leafing to the small string of pearls I place on my butterfly.

Wondering how I made these delicious confetti cupcakes?  I used the leftovers from the punch I used to make the curtain at the top.  I then took some of my Beacon's glue and swirled it on the cut out cupcakes, and sprinkled on the goodness!

And of course, there's my Sweet Lil Cuppy Cake sign...you might recognize the design - it's Webster's again!  This is one of the new Digi designs, Country Estate, and I changed the color and added the font, added a touch of gold and I think it worked out perfect!
Close up of the cutting -- recently discovered the glass cutting board -- LOVE IT!!!!

Hope you enjoyed it! Come on over and see what the other folks have created! There are some truly amazing artists!

WEBSTERS has gone digital!!!

I had to play with some of the new digital papers from Webster's Pages.  Since I absolutely adore all of their lines, but most especially the new Country Estate and Spring Market lines, I decided to indulge myself and try out the digital mode of scrapbooking.    They did not disappoint!  Look at this yummy layout I made of my Sparkey!  Here's what you need to know about digital scrapbooking, all those beautiful Webster's details you enjoy - the flowers, the birds, the everything?  Well, by selecting them, using the 'lasso' or 'magic wand' approach, you can copy and paste them - anywhere you want on your layout.  I did this with the geranium flowers, yellow roses and large white rose, to build out my border of flowers at the bottom here.  I am not an expert with digital by any means, but with papers and digital prints like this - how can you go wrong?  So go on - have fun - and try digital!

Inspiration.....ARTastic Challenge Blog

I like to participate in blogs...I think they are exactly what I need to move on something, probably something that was stuck just below the surface of my scrapbooking mind and wanting to come out anyway.  This week, I decided to use my scrapbook layout as my own inspiration for a poem.  I play along with some of those blogs too, you see.

The Greatest Show On Earth

Look around and you will see a playful world for you and me!
Open your eyes, sweet little man, and know that you can  - you can!
You can fly to the moon,
Swing through the air,
Walk upon a high wire,
Whatever you Dare!
Whatever you want, my sweet little prince, I will catch you and kiss you good night.
I will sing to the stars and turn out the lights.
I will be there, my little love, because you are...
My Greatest Show on Earth.

The Circus Horse by Marc Chagall

This month, I'm a Guest Designer over at ARTastic Challenge Blog!  We used this painting for inspiration.

I had so much fun incorporating my family into the mix of a carnival scene.

Owen was perfect to launch from the cannon!  Myself, I perched on a swing (see me above the cannon?), high above the show taking it all in.

And sweet Wyatt, isn't he perfect on a high wire?  He is so funny!  And we can't forget Mike, now can we?  He's the perfect side kick to my goofy little Owen!

My mod podge flower made of string and bling!
I also used some new techniques this month - mod podge and tissue paper!  I have been deep into my Soul Restoration course and everything is mod podge, so naturally a little of that gooey stuff had to flow in here.
My cute little guys!

I'm giving away goodies at ARTastic this month - so come play along!
